Khelo India Youth Games
In recent years, young Indian athletes have found a new platform to display their sporting abilities through the Khelo India initiative.
Khelo India, which translates to ‘Let’s play India,’ was introduced by the Indian government in 2017 with the aim of rejuvenating India’s sporting culture by involving children at the grassroots level.
This endeavor also placed a strong emphasis on enhancing sports infrastructure and establishing academies throughout the nation for various sports disciplines.
As part of this movement, annual national sports competitions were established, including the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), the Khelo India University Games (KIUG), and the Khelo India Winter Games. These events provided a stage for young athletes to represent their states and universities, showcasing their talents and competing for coveted medals.
Among the notable participants in these competitions were prominent athletes such as sprinter Dutee Chand and archers Parth Salunkhe and Komalika Bari.
