Oscars 2023 Winners List: The 95th Academy Awards are scheduled to commence on March 12th at 8 p.m. Eastern (5 p.m. Pacific) at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, airing live on ABC and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The Oscars, or the Academy Awards as they are formally known, are prestigious awards given for artistic and technical achievement in the American film industry. Widely regarded as the most significant awards in the US entertainment industry, they are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to honor excellence in filmmaking. The Academy’s voting membership determines the winners in various categories, and each winner receives a trophy in the form of a golden statuette. Officially called the “Academy Award of Merit,” the statuette is commonly known as the “Oscar.” The Art Deco-style figure of a knight on the trophy was created by Los Angeles artist George Stanley based on a design by art director Cedric Gibbons.
