  7. A rallying point for the downtrodden in South Africa, Mandela served as a rallying point while he was incarcerated.
  8. The father of modern South Africa is widely regarded as Mandela. He played an instrumental role in eliminating the repressive regime & establishing democracy.
  9. Mandela received many prizes that exceeded 250 in number, the most prestigious was the Nobel Peace Prize of 1993.
  10. He started the Nelson Mandela Foundation after leaving politics, which focuses on HIV/AIDS research, rural development, & school construction.
