SBI PO 2022 Selection Process
Among the public-sector bank recruitment exams in India, the SBI PO is the most prestigious. Compared to the IBPS bank entrance exams, it is considered a little difficult. The process for hiring a probationary officer at SBI consists of three steps:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- GD/Interview
SBI PO 2022 Exam Pattern
SBI PO selection is divided into three stages. After the written examinations (pre+mains), an interview round is conducted. Here is how the exams are structured:
Phase-1: SBI PO Prelims Exam
There will be an online examination in which candidates must complete a 100-mark question paper within one hour. There are three sections in the test. As of this year, the sectional cut-off for the Preliminary Exam has been removed, and the overall score will be considered for selection. Depending on the difficulty of the test, the Bank determines the cut-off or minimum passing marks for each section each year. Below is a breakdown of the marks by section:
Name of Tests(Objective) | No. of Questions | Maximum Marks | Duration |
---|---|---|---|
English Language | 30 | 30 | 20 Minutes |
Numerical Ability | 35 | 35 | 20 Minutes |
Reasoning Ability | 35 | 35 | 20 Minutes |
Total | 100 | 100 | 1 Hour |
Phase-2: SBI PO Main Exam
There will be two tests in the SBI PO Main Examination: an Objective Test with 200 marks and a Descriptive Test with 50 marks. Candidates will be required to type their Descriptive Test answers on a computer immediately after the Objective Test concludes.
Name of Tests (Objective) | No. of Questions | Maximum Marks | Duration |
---|---|---|---|
Reasoning & Computer Aptitude | 45 | 60 | 60 minutes |
Data Analysis & Interpretation | 35 | 60 | 45 minutes |
General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness | 40 | 40 | 35 minutes |
English Language | 35 | 40 | 40 minutes |
Total | 155 | 200 | 3 hours |
Descriptive Test (Letter Writing & Essay) | 02 | 50 | 30 minutes |
Phase-3: SBI PO Psychometric Test
Psychometric tests may be administered to the candidates who are shortlisted in Phase-III for personality profiling. It is possible to present the results of the test before the interview panel in order to have a thorough understanding of the candidates.
Test Structure | Group Excercise | Interview | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Max. Marks | 20 | 30 | 50 |
Final Selection
To qualify for the final round of selection, candidates will need to qualify both phases II and III separately. A final merit list will be prepared by adding the marks obtained in Phase-II, both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, to the marks obtained in Phase-III. During the preparation of the final merit list for selection, the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be considered.
